Yarn Project Challenge

NEW!! Yarn Bombing Project for the summer of 2016.

Be part of this amazing project.

Through the month of June we will collect flowers by YOU to be placed in the garden at the San Mateo Senior Center.

Flowers can be of any size or color. Your flower will then be placed on a stem and planted.

Why the senior center? Why not. This center offers amazing opportunities and events for those with so much to offer.  And it has been a location for so many of my classes (not just for seniors).

How can you participate? This is how. Create the flower, send it to me, and it gets planted. Yep, that simple. We have started to receive some that are as big as your hand or as small as your palm.  Lots of options.

Here's a pattern you can try:

FIVE POINT FLOWER
Ch 5; join with a sl st in first ch to form a ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 6 (counts as dc, ch 3), (2 dc in ring, ch 3) 4 times, dc in ring; join with sl st in 3rd ch of beginning ch-6 (5 dc-pairs and 5 ch-3 spaces)
NOTE: If a color change is desired, fasten off and join next color with sc in any ch-3 space (joining sc serves as first sc).
Rnd 2: (Sc, hdc, dc, htr, tr, picot, tr, htr, dc, hdc, sc) in each ch-3 space around; join with sl st in back loop of first sc (5 petals). Fasten off.  Stop here for small five point.

OR

PETAL ARCH
Ch 6, join with sl st in first ch to form a ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 3 (counts as dc) work 19 more dc in ring; join with sl st in top of beginning of ch-3 (20 dc).
Rnd 2: Ch 1, *sc in next st, ch 6, skip next 3 sts; repeat from * 4 more times; join with sl st around first sc.
NOTE: The single crochet stitches of rnd 2 are anchor stitches for rnd 3.
Rnd 3: *Ch 1, (sc, hdc, 6 dc, hdc, sc) in next ch-6 loop, ch 1, sl st around the next anchor st; repeat from* 4 more times; join with sl st in the back of the first sc. Fasten off.
